Can you do that? I planted a bunch of basil this spring because I LOVE IT! On anything! So I'm setting goals for summer, and that's one of them. And riding on stupid electric carts in stores so I can graze through veggie depts., deli's, bakery depts. The plan is to get strong enough to walk on my own 2 legs through summer, but I'm losing interest in the skipping......
Everyone has a weird neighbor....mine is insane. hahahaha Really! But I'm pretty crazy, and have always gotten along with nuts. hahaha For some reason, he decided to quite mowing along our propery line in the back, some paranoid thing going on in his head, I guess. So I snuck out 2 weeks ago and planted some cosmos along that 4 foot area. Won't they be cool when they start to grow and bloom? They're so pretty. When your yard serves you lemons, plant cosmos. They're one of my favorite wild flowers!

- That's me toting my "real hair" wig. I've been "hairless since July/2007 but am hopeful that it'll be back by summer! I'm 58, married 36 years to a great guy, Mother of 1 (he's 35) Grandma to 2 girls (9 and 7), I work as a teacher's aide in a special ed classroom. I'm a retired x-ray technician. I was diagnosed with sclc/limited in June of 2007. I completed 6 cycles of chemo, 30 radiation treatments to chest, and 15 PCI (brain radiation treatments). I've been in remission since Nov. of 2007. I don't know any more about my "time" than I did before I got cancer. Life is never dull, is it? {...wink}

I'm with ya, there - basil is truly a fantastic food. We planted some in our front yard last year that were purple - pretty and yummy! It's funny how you referred to your yard giving you lemons. Deb and I have been thinking along those lines about our yard, too. Since our back yard switched from full shade to full sun we have a very different backyard this summer - no longer the cool, shady retreat it was. Deb's farmer genes kicked in and we now have a fabulous vegetable garden. "When life gives you full sun, plant a vegetable garden" is what we've been saying. I have been wanting to plant more native plants, so we also planted some native prairie flowering plants to provide habitat for birds and butterflies. I looked up cosmos after reading your post and we may just have to add that to the mix. Thank you for cluing me into it!
